While England has some of the strictest national gun control laws, here is this week’s list of UK violence that the laws didn’t stop:

A schoolboy was arrested and questioned on suspicion of murder yesterday after a teenager was stabbed to death outside a birthday party in South London. In the latest outbreak of violence in the capital, Wesley Sterling, 16, suffered fatal chest wounds during the attack in Croydon. The killing followed earlier clashes at a nearby sports club when a group of people tried to gatecrash a 16th birthday party.

TWO guns are now being taken off the streets every day in the Lothians, as new figures show dozens of pump-action shotguns, rifles and handguns being destroyed by police in the last year alone.

Two separate murder inquiries have been launched over the weekend following the violent deaths of two men. Andrew Curran, 41, was stabbed to death in a Glasgow park on Friday night, and the body of William Downie, 28, was found on wasteground in Hamilton on Saturday.

A young father was stabbed to death in a fight outside a flat, police said last night. Anthony Kershaw, 25, died after a row with a 52-year-old man who had apparently called the police because of nuisance behaviour outside his ground-floor flat on a council estate in Rochdale.

A man was held at knifepoint by three armed intruders who broke into his house in Berkshire. One of the burglars is described as black, 6ft tall, with shoulder-length dreadlocks. The other two were white and wore hooded tops.

A drug dealer was jailed for 11 years at the Old Bailey after being arrested in possession of a sub-machine gun of the sort used in the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. Jordan Phipps, 23, was being watched by undercover police officers as he picked up the TEC-9 on a south London estate.

Chicago Marathon

The streets of Chicago will be a sea of people Sunday morning as tens of thousands of runners participate in the annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

It was just two years ago when marathon officials were forced to cancel the 26.2 mile race due to extreme heat. The outcome is expected to be much different Sunday according to race director Carey Pinkowski thanks in part to what he calls ideal running weather.

"One of the things I'm excited about is that for the last two years we haven't seen the traditional cascade of people throwing clothes off and we capture all of those garments and they go to a local charity so that's a great piece of our event," Pinkowski said.

Nearly 36,000 runners, from all 50 state and 100 countries are participating in the event

POLICE are treating an attack on a 21-year-old man in Drumchapel, Glasgow, as attempted murder and are looking for five men. The victim was injured in a disturbance in Ledmore Drive around 10pm on Saturday and taken to Glasgow Western Infirmary, where he was treated for stab wounds

Amran Khan, 29, from Oldham, Greater Manchester, was gunned down in what is believed to be a gang-related attack, when he opened his door on hearing a disturbance.

A taxi driver who was shot and dumped in the boot of his car may have been the victim of a feud with another cabbie, according to messages left on a tribute website. Detectives investigating the murder of Stuart Ludlam, 43, who was murdered less than an hour after beginning his shift last Thursday morning in Matlock, Derbyshire, are studying messages left on his Facebook page as they search for a motive for the killing.

POLICE have investigated a three-year-old boy for disorder and vandalism, making him the youngest known suspect in a British criminal inquiry. The toddler is among 10 children aged five and under investigated for crimes, including sexual offences, since May.

A WOMAN who killed a disabled pensioner after stabbing him 18 times with a pair of scissors in a frenzied attack was jailed for 11 years yesterday. One of the blows inflicted by Henrietta Johnstone penetrated 67-year-old Andrew Powell's skull.Where is the scissors registry?

The brother of a dead gangster was in a serious condition in hospital today after being shot in a city street. Edward Boyd, brother of Stewart ‘Specky’ Boyd, suffered extensive injuries when he was shot in Haughburn Road in Pollok, Glasgow, last night.

Phil Jagielka, the England defender, was held at knifepoint and forced to hand over jewellery valued at about £10,000 when thieves broke into his Cheshire home.

Two men have been arrested after a 23-year-old man was injured in a stabbing incident in Lincolnshire.

A 25-year-old man has been charged over an attack in Bedfordshire in which West Ham United footballer Calum Davenport was stabbed in the legs.

POLICE officers are called out to Scottish schools at least 32 times every day, it has been revealed. Teachers are asking police to investigate allegations of rape, serious assault and drug dealing. Among the most serious cases, an eight-year-old was collared for brandishing a knife, a nine-year-old detained for lewd and libidinous behaviour and a 14-year-old arrested for discharging a firearm.

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl who is battling cancer is recovering after two boys apparently sprayed her with deodorant and tried to set her alight. Scarlett Hellewell had to be rescued by neighbours when the pair pinned her down and attacked her with the aerosol can in Halifax, West Yorkshire. She escaped with bruises when the deodorant did not catch fire. Where is the deodorant registry?

POLICE were holding an 18-year-old girl last night on suspicion of murdering a man hours after collecting her A-level results. It is understood she had been out celebrating her exam results on Thursday before rowing with the 22-year-old man.

Open heart surgery was needed to save a man stabbed in east London after going to buy a car from someone he contacted through the website Gumtree. But he was ambushed, then beaten, kicked and stabbed in the heart, lungs and abdomen, before the £5,000 he was to pay with was stolen.

A moped rider who fired gunshots at a man in a Bedfordshire street before speeding off is being sought by police. Witnesses in Ventnor Gardens, Luton, reported seeing a man on a red moped fire three shots at another man and ride away.

If the reason for gun control laws is to reduce violence and crime, the laws don’t work. How about treating the problems and not the symptom (guns)? I am NOT saying UK should get rid of their gun control laws. But people here in the US look at the UK national gun control laws and think national gun control laws in the US would totally solve all crime and violence. These posts show they wouldn’t stop the violence and crime.

Politicians in the US are now calling gangs “urban terrorists”. Why the switch in names? Because new gun control and drug laws are not being created. They figure “urban terrorists” will get them the new laws but they miss the point.

If you had worldwide gun control laws, gangs and criminals would still have guns as long as police and armies had guns. And people would still miss the point. Rather than looking for new gun control laws, figure out why people want to commit crimes and violence.

And why do people kill their EX rather than finding a new one?

An 18-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after a stabbing at a home in Nottingham.

The first “anti-stab” knife is to go on sale in Britain, designed to work as normal in the kitchen but to be ineffective as a weapon. The knife has a rounded edge instead of a point and will snag on clothing and skin to make it more difficult to stab someone. It was invented by industrial designer John Cornock, who was inspired by a documentary in which doctors advocated banning traditional knives. Mr Cornock, 42, from Swindon, said that the knife will cut vegetables, but will make it almost impossible to stab someone to death and will reduce the risk of accidental injuries. He said: “It can never be a totally safe knife, but the idea is you can’t inflict a fatal wound. Nobody could just grab one out of the kitchen drawer and kill someone.”

Two men have been injured in a shooting incident in the West Midlands. The men, aged 18 and 19, were found with gunshot wounds to their legs in Albert Road, Aston, Birmingham, on Monday night.

Armed officers were called out to a street in Manchester after shots were fired at a car and two homes. A Mercedes car was shot at a number of times and two homes were targeted in Scotland Hall Road in Newton Heath, police said.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after a police officer was threatened with a gun in Cambridgeshire. Two police officers approached three men in Bedford Street, Wisbech, on Tuesday night. While dealing with the incident, one of the men threatened an officer with a handgun before running away.

A firefighter had to dive out of the way after a gang shot at him with an air rifle while he was tackling a blaze at a scrap yard in Greater Manchester. Mr Myers said: "This kind of incident is all too common, we have had bricks thrown at the fire appliances, firefighters have been spat at and now we are being shot at."

If gun control laws are suppose to stop crime and violence, they don’t work.

One of my more popular post is about the Mythbuster’s episode trying to prove Cleve Backster’s theory that plants feel pain. In checking how people use that post, I found this story:

According to an article by Jeanne McDermott in the December 1984 issue of Smithsonian Magazine, researchers have found that trees can actively defend themselves against these serious insect attacks, even to the point of communicating a warning to other trees in the vicinity.

Chicago’s parking meter fiasco and ObamaCare

In an effort to plug a gaping budget deficit, Mr. Daley pushed a deal through the City Council a few months ago that privatized management of the parking meters for 75 years in exchange for a lump-sum payment of $1.15 billion.

In some areas, rates then rose fourfold. At most meters, there was no more free parking on holidays or Sundays, and some meters must be fed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Most vexing to drivers, however, is that thousands of newly installed credit-card and coin-taking parking meters simply do not work. They have been charging the wrong rates, failing to issue receipts (the only proof of payment) or not accepting money.

On Wednesday, so many of the downtown meters were out of order and spewing out error messages that the city did the unthinkable: it stopped writing parking tickets.

“I’ll take the responsibility,” Mr. Daley said at a news conference, angrily waving his hands in the air. “I’ll take it.” Source: NY Times

Meters in my neighborhood went from $.25 for 30 minutes, to $.25 for 15 minutes and finally to $.25 for 8 minutes. When it went to 8 minutes, nobody parked on the street. I thought they were shooting a movie and had cleared the streets. After the 6th day, I realized people were boycotting the meter rate.

Now they have replaced the meters with pay boxes. I have two problems with the pay boxes:
1) They are good for your health. You usually have to walk a half a block to get to the pay box and then you have to walk back to your car to put the slip on your dash. Finally, you walk to your destination.
2) The pay boxes are a stealth fee rate hike. With a meter if you paid for 30 minutes but got your task done in 10 minutes, others could use the leftover 20 minutes. Now the extra 20 minutes drives off with your car. You paid a higher rate. If someone pulls in immediately after you and the city could possibly get paid three times for the same 10 minutes.

Now what does this have to do with ObamaCare? It is how poorly it has been handled and do you want your health care nationalized? Yes, it was privatized but that was ineptly handled. With private healthcare, you can CHOOSE to change if your provider is inept.

One man has been shot and two others stabbed in a street fight outside an east London Tube station, police said.

A MAN has been stabbed on board a bus after confronting another passenger who was shouting and swearing. The victim was on the Number 62 bus travelling from Glasgow city centre to Baillieston when the attack happened at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

GLASGOW allotments were vandalised and an elderly man threatened with a hammer just hours after CCTV covering the site was withdrawn. Locals who use the Oatlands Leisure Gardens, on the South Side, want safety measures to be stepped up. A new security fence has been installed, but CCTV covering the site was removed - and within hours the site in Elmfoot Street was attacked.

THIEVES have made off with more than £1,000 in a raid on an off-sales in Glasgow. A member of staff and a customer at Victoria Wine in Newton Mearns were threatened with a knife by two robbers on Sunday evening. Both men were wearing hooded tops, scarves and dark clothing.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD has been stabbed after a row broke out over another man's sideburns. Teenager Ross Davidson was repeatedly stabbed in the neck and the stomach after he made comments about another man's facial hair.

AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl was shot in the shoulder with an air weapon in a "despicable attack" as she queued at an ice cream van, police said yesterday. The victim and her 15-year-old sister were talking to the ice cream seller when a gang of youths approached in Huyton, Merseyside. One of the group, who covered his face with a scarf, pulled out the weapon and fired at the girl before he rode off his bike. The rest of the gang also fled the area.

A teenager has been found murdered in a stairwell of a block of flats in east London, police have confirmed. The 18-year-old male was found stabbed in Shearwater Court, Abinger Grove, Deptford at about noon on Thursday.

If gun control laws are suppose to stop crime and violence, they don’t work.

I am NOT advocating returning handguns to the british citizens but if the reason for gun control laws is to reduce violence and crime, the laws don’t work. How about treating the problems and not the symptom (guns)?

Veggienazis and the 4,800 calorie burger

A Michigan minor-league baseball team's scheme to sell a big honkin' burger totaling 4,800 calories as a concession-stand promotion has drawn the ire of a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group that wants the burger to come with a warning about its deleterious health effects.

The West Michigan Whitecaps' new 4-pound burger features 5 beef patties, 5 slices of cheese, nearly a cup of chili plus salsa and corn chips, all bundled into an 8-inch bun. The concoction sells for $20. Anyone who eats one by him- or herself earns a t-shirt to mark the achievement. <

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which promotes vegetarianism as the most healthful diet, calls the burger a "dietary disaster" and has asked the ball team to warn customers that "Eating meat is associated with increased risk of heart disease, cancer, and death."

Two teenagers were murdered in London at the weekend, bringing the number killed in the capital this year to five. An 18-year-old youth, originally from Algeria, was fatally shot in the neck on Saturday evening in Tottenham, North London. Police do not believe the shooting was gang related. In Walthamstow, northeast London, Wahab Zaaki, 18, was found by emergency services with multiple stab wounds on Friday. He was pronounced dead en route to hospital. A 17-year-old was arrested.

Dozens of people had surrounded a BNP trailer outside a pub in St Helens Road, Leigh. Police arrived to find the trailer overturned. Tony Ward, 48 - a member of the BNP - was hit on the head with a hammer. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Police said he was not seriously hurt.

Will the UK be creating a national hammer registry?

DINERS carried on eating after a man was stabbed in a busy city centre restaurant. The 33-year-old victim suffered six knife wounds in the frenzied attack in Burger King on Moseley Street, Manchester. The restaurant was packed on Saturday afternoon when the incident happened. One witness said: "It was a sad indictment of the times we live in and somewhat alarming to note that several people, sitting no further than two or three yards away from the scene, continued to nonchalantly eat burgers and chips as if they were watching a crime drama unravel on the television.

A 22-year-old man is in hospital after being shot several times in the north of Glasgow. Police and other emergency workers were called to Southloch Gardens in the Springburn area of the city at about 2000 GMT.

Three teenage boys have been taken to hospital after they were stabbed in Newcastle city centre. Police and paramedics were called to the Cloth Market area following reports of the injuries.

A THUG wearing a Halloween mask and armed with a gun and a hammer terrified staff when he raided a bookmakers. The robber repeatedly tried to smash a glass security panel protecting the counter at Coral Bookmakers, on Lansdowne Road, Crumpsall. However, he left empty handed when he could not break the glass with the hammer. Watch a video of the crime

Gun control laws are considered the solution but don't address the problem - the violence and crime. And to those in the UK, I am NOT telling you to allow guns but look at the social fabric.

And in Chicago....

The bullet lodged in the 15-year-old's left ankle is a permanent reminder of how close he came to death—how close he came to joining 28 Chicago Public Schools students who were killed so far this school year. "I do feel lucky," Kenneth said. As school officials acknowledged last week, Chicago already has eclipsed in 2008-09 the number of public school students killed all of last school year. And there are still three months to go until summer break. "The real fix is going to be changing the culture, the mind-set, the emotional maturity, the social fabric that a lot of these young men are operating in," Police Supt. Jody Weis said. "That fabric is torn. We've got to weave it back together and make it strong."

“Extinct” bird lives until eaten

A rare quail from the Philippines was photographed for the first time before being sold as food at a poultry market, experts say. Found only on the island of Luzon, Worcester's buttonquail was known solely through drawings based on dated museum specimens collected several decades ago. Scientists had suspected the species—listed as "data deficient" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's 2008 Red List—was extinct. A TV crew documented the live bird in the market (above) before it was sold in January, according to the Agence France-Press news agency. Source: Nat.Geo.

There are a lot of “extinct” animals that just hide well from humans.

I like the story about how a tree hugger group tried to repopulate two nearly “extinct” birds – a pigeon and a hawk. They proudly set the birds free on this island. One problem – what was the favorite meal for the rare hawk? The rare pigeon.

A man has had a crossbow bolt fired at his chest. The 41-year-old man is in Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire where he is being treated for injuries received in the attack on Friday night. Where is the crossbow registry?

A MAN has been stabbed to death after confronting a gang of youths yards from his home. The 32-year-old was attacked after a group of teenagers gathered just doors from his house in Borrowstoun Crescent, Bo'ness.

The youngest boy ever arrested by the Metropolitan Police for possessing a firearm was given a custodial sentence today. The boy, who was aged 13 at the time of the offence, had hidden a Baikal pistol, two silencers and 31 rounds of ammunition in his mother's house in south London.

Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery by a man wearing a Shrek mask. He produced a knife and ordered a member of staff to empty the contents of the till plus cigarettes into a bag.

A 13-year-old boy has been attacked by a group of men in the Waterside area of Londonderry. The attack on the schoolboy took place at Aughlish Court shortly after 1930 GMT on Tuesday. Did the national UK gun control laws protect this kid?

Global Warming News: England hit by worst example of global warming

The heaviest snowfall in 20 years has closed thousands of schools and caused transport chaos up the eastern side of Britain, with London and the surrounding areas the hardest hit.

Six million bus passengers were left in the lurch as all London's bus services were halted because of dangerous driving conditions, and every Tube line except the Victoria line was at least partially suspended.

Many mainline commuter rail services were also cancelled or seriously delayed, and flights at London's airports were decimated, with both of Heathrow's runways shut, Luton and London City closed, and Gatwick and Stansted flights subject to delays and short-notice cancellations.

The Met Office said it is expecting the widest covering of snow seen since February 1991, when 51cm of snow fell in Yorkshire and 15cm in London. This winter is already recorded as the coldest in 13 years, with temperatures plunging to lows of minus 13C during a three-week freeze during January. London Times
The mountains of DUBAI and United Arab Emirates are fully covered by snow which has not been seen for a long time. Weather comes in cycles. There have been several times in the past where the average global temperature has been warming than the current average. Global Warming is bogus.

Legal Moment of Silence struck down by Liberal Courts

A federal judge Wednesday overturned a state law requiring students to observe a moment of silence at the start of each day, ruling it amounted to an unconstitutional endorsement of religion aimed at introducing prayer in public schools.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman makes permanent a ban he put in place in May after a legal challenge by Dawn Sherman, a student at Buffalo Grove High School, and her atheist activist father, Rob Sherman. (source)

The US Supreme Court starts it’s day with “God save the United States and this Honorable Court!”.
The US Congress starts it’s day with a prayer.
George Washington’s inauguration included attending a church service.
One of the first federal employees were the Congressional Chaplains.
Our founding fathers wanted the Bible used as a text book to help students with their reading.
President Obama’s inauguration had a controversy because an Islamic Imam with terrorist ties gave a prayer at his prayer breakfast.

Global Warming “News”: The "green" presidency

Most people fly on commercial airplanes. But starting this weekend, hundreds of private jets carrying VIPs, and lots of celebrities, will be coming to town. "It's supposed to look like the Oscars! I think it's crazy. All the people coming to town... amazing!" says Debbie Dailey of Centreville.

But where to park all those private planes is a problem.

Dulles International Airport Manager Chris Browne says, "We expect an larger number of private aircraft than any other inauguration, about 500 over a period of three to four days."

But Dulles Airport has a ready-made solution. In November, Dulles opened a fourth runway that is only used in the afternoon. It's far from capacity. Now... it will be a parking lot. For private jets. Browne says taking the runway out of service temporarily will NOT impact general aviation.

With an estimated price tag of $40m, the three-day celebration that is President Bush's second inauguration will be the most expensive ever. The lavish dinners, parties and fireworks began on Tuesday and will continue through his swearing-in on Thursday, followed by a parade and nine official inaugural balls.

Some have criticised the expense, questioning the propriety of a flashy celebration as US troops are dying in Iraq and South Asia still recovers from last month's deadly tsunami. The overt criticism of an inauguration is unusual, but a Washington Post poll found that a majority of Americans would prefer a smaller, more subdued event. "Precedent suggests that inaugural festivities should be muted - if not cancelled - in wartime," New York Democrat Representative Anthony Weiner said in a letter to President Bush.

Weiner noted the money could be used to buy 690 Humvees and pay for a $290 bonus for each soldier serving in Iraq.

Obama’s inauguration

It is believed President-elect Obama's inauguration will be the costliest in history — around $50 million — despite the recession. President Bush has declared a state of emergency to free up federal funds to help the district cope with the soaring cost of the event.

There has been little outcry over the hefty price tag so far — unlike four years ago when the cost of President Bush's second inauguration provoked liberal outrage. Salon.com described the event, in an piece by Eric Boehlert on Jan. 20, 2005, as "Bush's overblown celebration," the think tank Center for American Progress called it "lifestyles of the rich and heartless," and an article in the London Guardian by Paul Harri on January 9, 2005, said it was "an unashamed celebration of red America's victory over blue America."

Inaugural planners are trying to create the most environmentally-friendly event to date. The Hill newspaper reports the committee plans to deploy 6,000 volunteers to pick up recycling along the parade route. The oath of office will be recited on a recycled carpet. And there are even plans to recycle the manure from horses walking in the parade. But Brian Darling of the conservative Heritage Foundation says, "you're going to have people flying in on their private jets, limousines and SUVs cruising around Washington... the recycled carpet and all of that probably makes everybody feel better and they can feel like they have a green inaugural ceremony, but in reality it's not." Obama wimps out by including Gay bishop

An openly gay bishop will deliver a prayer for President-elect Barack Obama in an inauguration event on Sunday that could help defuse controversy over an anti-gay pastor who will give the main invocation.

Robinson, 61, said both Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden will attend the event, and Obama is expected to speak. As for himself, Robinson said he doesn't yet know what he'll say, but he knows he won't use a Bible.

Since the Bible and most major religions consider homosexuality to be abnormal and immoral, it is clear that Robinson already doesn’t use the Bible. And when one politely states that religious belief, it is not homophobic.

UK and Europe expect Obama to just release Guantanamo detainees

It is little wonder that the prospect of Britain taking even a handful of the terror suspects being held in Guantánamo Bay is being described in Whitehall as a hot potato.

Several departments must address issues ranging from any potential security risk the detainees pose to the immigration status under which they enter Britain, the housing and other benefits they can receive, and the inevitable public backlash.

How people react to foreign terror suspects being given sanctuary in Britain with accommodation, weekly cash benefits and access to the health service is a key consideration.

The Guantánamo detainees are expected to enter Britain as asylum seekers on the basis that they have a “well founded fear of persecution and torture” if they were returned to their home countries.

Unable to work while their asylum application is being considered, detainees would be eligible for cash support under the scheme at a rate of £42.16 a week for a single person over 25. They would be unable to claim jobseeker’s allowance, housing benefit or income support but could receive NHS care including hospital and dental care.

Probably the most difficult issue for the Government once they are in the country is whether any of the detainees poses a security risk. (source)

Prime Minister Gordon Brown says the U.S. has not asked Britain to accept Guantanamo Bay detainees if the camp for terrorist suspects is closed.

President-elect Barack Obama has pledged to shut Guantanamo. Several European nations have said they are considering taking inmates who cannot be returned to their own countries because of the risk of persecution. (source)

Ford has officially unveiled the high-performance Shelby GT500 Mustang, which is set to debut at the Detroit Auto Show this month. "The new GT500 is the result of the partnership between Ford's Special Vehicle Team and Shelby Automobiles, owned by legendary race car driver Carroll Shelby," reports the Detroit News. "Both worked together to enhance the car's performance and looks."

According to Left Lane News, the speedy sports car is powered by a 5.4-liter V8 that makes 510 pound-feet of torque and 540 horsepower and is "more powerful than its predecessor by 40 horses." Despite the extra power, Ford has improved the GT500's fuel economy by 2 miles per gallon on the highway. (Fuel Economy Range: 22 mpg Hwy, 16 mpg City)

Ford hasn't announced prices for the new Shelby GT500, but The Examiner speculates, "The '09 GT500 lists for more than $45,220 and one shouldn't expect the 2010 to be priced lower." (source)

The Shelby is not all that energy efficient and not that cheap but Ford won’t have them sitting on the showfloor for long. Americans don’t really care about global warming. They want hot high performance cars. If given a free car, would Americans choose the Tesla all-electric sports car or Ford’s Shelby GT500?

Obama’s oath of office and “No separation of church and state”

A group of atheists, led by a California man known for challenging the use of the words "under God" in recitals of the Pledge of Allegiance at public schools, filed a lawsuit yesterday to bar prayer and references to God at the swearing-in of President-elect Barack Obama.

Newdow and others also argue that the phrase "so help me God," used consistently in inaugural oaths since the swearing-in of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, should be stricken, saying it is not part of the oath as specified in the Constitution. (source)

A Topeka community activist hoping to establish a national holiday to commemorate President-elect Barack Obama said Thursday he is tickled he was beaten to the punch this week by a small Alabama county.

Commissioners in Perry County approved the second Monday in November as "The Barack Obama Day." The rural Alabama county, which overwhelmingly supported Obama in last month's presidential election, passed a measure to close county offices for the new annual holiday beginning in 2009.

Perry County Commissioner Albert Turner Jr. said the holiday is meant to highlight the Democratic president-elect's victory as a way to give people faith that difficult goals can be achieved. Under the holiday, roughly 40 workers will get a paid day off. (source)

Shouldn’t "The Barack Obama Day" wait until the Obama presidency is over? I think there are going to be a whole bunch of liberals pissed off by the Obama presidency. He already has the anti-war liberals mad at him. And most poor people in this country will be ticked off when they realize that the number of poor won’t have changed much. And some say the number of unemployed is and will increase because of his corporate tax increases.

With that said, there will be a “Barack Obama day”. Even if he gets nothing done, his presidency will be a milestone like George Washington and Lincoln.

Should it be a paid day off? For most private companies, it will not be a paid day off. There are too many paid holidays already. Washington and Lincoln lost their separate days off.

Liberals still want to fight terrorism against the US like it is still Sept. 10, 2001. They want us to handle a terrorist act like it is a robbery at the local 7-11 store. They don’t want us to preemptively gather information about future terrorist acts that might prevent something occurring on US soil.

There are Islamic extremists that are interpreting the Quoran to say anyone who is not a Muslim can and must be killed. If you think that statement is racist, fine.

As far as not showing my face, there are a lot of crazy people in the world. And with stuff like Google streetview, people can find a whole lot about you on the internet without you providing it. And after one of my letters to the editor appeared in the USAToday, I got a nasty snail mail letter from somebody with an opposing point of view. My address was not printed but that didn’t stop this person from getting my address. They could have as easily just appeared at my door with a gun even though guns are banned here.

Oh, and by the way, I believe the person who posted the above comment was in Berea, Kentucky at the time.

Members of the rival groups are said to be involved in the heroin and cocaine trade. Other alleged incidents include two gunmen on a motor-cycle firing shots from a semi-automatic pistol at a man sitting in a van in Broomhouse Loan. Then another man had two shots fired through his front window in Craigmillar.

THE best friend of murdered 16-year-old Kodjo Yenga has launched an anti-knife campaign in schools to try to shock pupils away from a life of violence. Bilal Ayonote, 18, said not enough was being done to stem the rise of a knife culture among the young. He criticised police and government saying they do not "have a clue" how to combat the problem. "Knife crime is worse than it seems in the papers. Carrying a knife is just like smoking - it is a trend, a bad habit. It is peer pressure.

A woman found dead in her Hull home had been attacked with an axe and suffered "severe head injuries" police said. The body of 65-year-old Irene Robertson was found in a flat in Euston Close, off Anlaby Road, by officers from Humberside Police on Sunday.

While unionized General Motors and Chrysler will receive billions in federal aid to avoid collapse, and Toyota is tabling plans to produce the ”green”Prius hybrid in Mississippi, Non_unionized Kia Motors remains on track to build a sport utility vehicle in Georgia.

Kia spokesman Alex Fedorak said production of the Sorento SUV is still scheduled to begin in November in West Point, a small city 80 minutes southwest of Atlanta.

South Korea-based Kia promises to create 2,500 jobs. It received 43,000 applications, Fedorak said.

The automaker’s suppliers could employ an additional 3,765 people in Georgia and 1,500 in Alabama, the Development Authority of LaGrange says. (source)

Global Warming “News”: Las Vegas snow proves global warming

A rare winter storm swept through Southern Nevada Wednesday, dumping the most snow on the valley in nearly three decades, grounding flights at the airport, forcing the closure of major highways and closing schools for today.

"This is the most snow we've had in Las Vegas in almost 30 years," said Chris Stachelski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "It's a significant historical event." (source)

The membership to the “Church of Global Warming” had been increasing rapidly. Then historic events like Vegas snow started happening. The “church” started losing members. People started losing faith that global warming was man-made. “Pope” Al Gore decreed: Don’t use the term “global warming”. Use the term “climate change”.

The government of Belgium's French-speaking region of Wallonia has approved a tax on barbequing, local media reported. Experts said that between 50 and 100 grams of CO2, a so-called greenhouse gas, is emitted during barbequing. Residents of Wallonia will have to pay 20 euros for a grilling session. The local authorities plan to monitor compliance with the new tax legislation from helicopters, whose thermal sensors will detect burning grills.

On Sunday, July 20, the Greenpeace folks in Raleigh threw a "Community Barbeque to Stop Global Warming," and everyone's was invited. It was part of the Greenpeace "Project Hot Seat," which aims to bring Americans together and demand that Washington create 5 million new green jobs, clean up global warming pollution, break the nation's dependence on coal and other dirty energy, and embrace efficiency and renewables.

First there was the dotcom bust of the late 1990s, then came the real-estate bubble that's deflating before our eyes. Next up: the green bubble. Alternative energy ventures have received a lot of great press, heavy investment and lip service from politicians in the last couple of years, but many of the nascent green industry's balance sheets are beginning to bleed red.

Among the hardest hit is T. Boone Pickens and his alternative energy hedge fund BP Capital, which has reportedly lost some $2 billion. The Oklahoma oil tycoon who leased hundreds of thousands of acres in West Texas for a giant wind farm, has put that project on hold. Another canary in the coal mine: the once soaring market for carbon credits in Europe has tanked, as manufacturing firms worldwide slow production. Even the once promising sector of corn ethanol has gone bust, with the American company VeraSun declaring bankruptcy in October and other publicly held ethanol companies reduced to penny stocks. Most wind turbines in the USA are not being properly maintained and therefore fail. Wind is not 24/7 so you need coal-fired turbines running 24/7 as backups.

Even the mighty Toyota Prius has fallen victim to economic chaos and plunging gas prices: Toyota said today it was postponing its plans to build the Prius at a new factory under construction in Blue Springs, near Tupelo, Mississippi—indefinitely.

US auto sales have plummeted roughly 30 percent against last year’s numbers, from an annual sales level of roughly 15 million to a mere two-thirds of that level in October and November 2008. And while the Detroit Three have seen sales fall further than their Asian counterparts, Toyota suffered a 32-percent loss in November. With gasoline back under $2 a gallon in many states, Prius sales have fallen further than that, almost 50 percent in November 2008 against the monthly level from a year ago. (source)

Americans don’t buy cars like the Prius because they truly believe in global warming.

Assume Tesla Motors makes another breakthrough where their all-electric car gets 500 miles per charge. Further assume they can make an inexpensive version of their car. Consider if most cars in LA became Tesla electrics. Where would the recharging power come from? Coal-fired power plants, not wind farms.

Journalist Muntadhar al-Zeidi, who was kidnapped by militants last year, was being held by Iraqi security Monday and interrogated about whether anybody paid him to throw his shoes at Bush during a press conference the previous day in Baghdad, said an Iraqi official.

The Bush administration has denied President-elect Barack Obama's request to move early into an official guest house across from the White House, citing previously scheduled commitments, a transition official said today.

The Obamas wanted to move into Blair House before Jan. 5, so that daughters Malia and Sasha could start classes on time at Sidwell Friends School in Washington. "But there were previously scheduled events and guests that couldn't be displaced," said a transition spokesperson, who agreed to be quoted only on condition of anonymity. (source)

Obama and his staff know that Blair House is normally available on Jan. 15th. I can understand Obama wanting to minimize the distruption in his kids lives. Regardless of who is in Blair House thru the 15th, the White House said NO. No one has a right to whine that the Obamas couldn’t get moved in early. I am surprised the DU nutbags aren't asking that the Obamas be allowed to move into the White House early. The Obamas are spending $60,000 per year to send the kids to Sidwell. They can afford to rent some hotel rooms for a couple days.

In other words, the contour of the pen tracing was not what I would expect from water entering a leaf, but instead what I would expect from a person taking a lie-detector test. Lie detectors work on the principle that when people perceive a threat to their well-being, they physiologically respond in predictable ways. If you were conducting a polygraph as part of a murder investigation, you might ask a suspect, "Was it you who fired the shot that was fatal to so and so?" If the true answer is yes, the suspect will fear getting caught lying, and electrodes on their skin will pick up the response to that fear. So I began to think about how I could threaten the well-being of the plant. First I tried putting a neighboring leaf in a cup of warm coffee. The plant, if anything, showed what I now recognize as boredom--it just kept trending downward.

Then at thirteen minutes, fifty-five seconds chart time, the imagery entered my mind of burning the leaf I was testing. I didn't verbalize, I didn't touch the plant, I didn't touch the equipment. The only new thing that could have been a stimulus for the plant was the mental image. Yet the plant went wild. The pen jumped right off the top of the chart.

Obama and the unions blackmail Bank of America

Demonstrating workers at an Illinois factory have ended their six-day sit-in after reaching a $1.75m agreement with creditor banks. They will receive eight weeks' salary and healthcare benefits and pay for any unused holiday time. The total cost was covered by a $1.35m loan from Bank of America and a $400,000 loan from JPMorgan Chase, both of which were creditors of the plant.

The owners of the company had blamed Bank of America for cutting off their credit line. Republic Windows and Doors was a victim of the collapse in house building in the US. It told workers last week that Bank of America had shut off its line of credit and had refused to allow further expenditures.

Bank of America blamed with the company, expressing concern at "Republic's failure to pay their employees the claims to which they are legally entitled". It also said that Republic hadlost $10m over the past two years and that it had lent the company the maximum amount it could. In July, JPMorgan wrote off a $7m investment in Republic as well as a $5m loan, which had made it a 40% shareholder, and resigned its seat on the board. (source)

I thought the bail-out money was to help the banks and mortgage companies deal with a ton of bad home loans that the liberals forced the banks and mortgage companies to make. Those loans should never have been made.

Thanks to union wages, the housing slump and other stuff, Republic was millions of dollars in debt. While a nice idea, why should failing in debt companies be forced to pay for a 60 day notice?

Banks had to write-off millions of Republic’s bad debt. Now we have the Union and liberals including Obama forcing BoA to pay the worker’s severance. BoA had nothing to do with Republic inability to pay that severance.

I did a web search trying to find out which order does money get paid when a failed company is liquidated. In the above link, I found a similar situation to Republic. In this case, the workers couldn’t get a union and liberals to blackmail a bank into paying their severance. These workers just lived with the fact that payroll is second from bottom on getting a piece of any liquidation money. Owners are last.

One plan being floated in Congress late last week included the creation of a special government "oversight board" made up of five U.S. cabinet secretaries and the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The board would be led by a "car czar" appointed by the president. Presumably, this board could have a large saw in the kinds of products Detroit produces.

With Democrats controlling both the White House and Congress next year, an automotive bailout might also require U.S. carmakers to turn out fewer trucks and SUVs and more fuel efficient vehicles. And U.S. carmakers might not balk at that.

Should CEOs make millions in salaries? YES! But I might limit them some. If the lowest paid employee gets $15,000 a year, I might limit CEO’s salaries to 1.5 million.

Why should they get so much more money? Look at what their decisions can effect.

The management of Oldsmobile made the wrong decisions and Oldsmobile closed their doors. All the employees of Oldsmobile lost their jobs. Most of the employees of Oldsmobile dealers lost their jobs. Many of the employees that provided parts for Oldsmobile lost their jobs.

When a janitor makes the wrong decision, who is affected? When a CEO makes the wrong decision, it can affect a lot of people. Shouldn’t they make more money for that bigger responsibility? Note: I agree that upper management shouldn’t get big bonuses in years of major layoffs.

And as far as Congress dictating U.S. carmakers making less trucks and SUVs, the American people don’t care what the Kyoto Protocol or Congress says. They want their trucks and SUVs.

Obama, Republic Windows and the stupid government bail-outs

Republic announced early last week that it would be closing its near North Side factory on Friday. With just a few days notice that they were losing jobs and benefits, workers held a sit-in over the weekend and have persisted. In response to a question at a press conference on another topic, President-elect Obama says if the company owes them, the workers should get paid.

OBAMA: When it comes to the situation here in Chicago with the workers who are asking for the benefits and payments that they have earned, I think they're absolutely right.

Before taking the workers side, consider a couple things.
Republic closed it’s doors because it didn’t have enough money to continue.
Bank of America could have refused credit to Republic because BoA thought Republic was a bad risk.

How can you make a company pay benefits and such when the company is closing because they don’t have enough money to continue? And those benefits are not BoA’s responsibility.

If Republic had enough money to give 90 days notice, don’t you think they would have used the time to get an alternative source of credit so they could have continued operating? The workers may be lucky they got three days notice. Some people come to work to find the doors locked and a note saying their place of work is closed

The company said it would show the financial records to the workers. Did Obama ask to see those records or did he just want to pickup points with the working class?

Can Obama get the US to follow the Kyoto Protocol? No!!

President Obama will have absolutely zero chance meeting those goals voluntarily. While most in this country do something to be “green”, they know global warming is NOT man-made. They also know Kyoto is flawed. Besides they will never voluntarily give up their big pickup trucks and SUVs.

And will the solution cause problems? Will being greener mean more red ink for our economy?

Wind Power

Wind energy is the latest rage in going green and in shifting the United States away from fossil-based energy supplies. And more wind turbines are coming to Oregon. It is even required by law. But with giant wind turbines now looming nearby, the Eaton’s fear the rapid move to clean energy will come at the expense of their health. ----- (source)

Wind power has the problem of causing more healthcare problems.
We will need new infrastructure to carry the power.
And since the wind is not guaranteed, you need backup coal-fired generators running 24/7. You can't just turn the key and start them up.

Hybrids

The hybrid trend, of course, is not radical or breaking news. As hybrid vehicles have swept the nation, major transportation systems — including ours in Minneapolis — have joined the bandwagon. According to its website, Metro Transit hopes for 20 percent of its fleet to be hybrid electric by 2012. Its website notes that hybrids have “90 percent fewer emissions and a 22 percent better fuel economy” than traditional gasoline powered vehicles. While this may be true, there remains a concern for both the drivers and riders of these gas/electric hybrids. The trouble is with electromagnetic fields (EMFs), a byproduct of electricity. According to an article published in The New York Times in April, “There is a legitimate scientific reason for raising the issue. The flow of electrical current to the motor that moves a hybrid vehicle at low speeds (and assists the gasoline engine on the highway) produces magnetic fields, which some studies have associated with serious health matters, including a possible risk of leukemia among children.” ---- (source)

All electric Cars

The Volt, a plug-in hybrid vehicle designed to drive up to 40 miles at highway speed on battery power alone, is planned for the 2010 or 2011 model year. On the other side of the country, Tesla Motors, an infant car company that designs and manufactures fully electric cars that can travel more than 200 miles on a single charge.

When electric cars first ran on lead acid batteries, I thought about getting in a roll over accident and having several gallons of battery acid dumped on me.
The Tesla Roadster looks great and has better mileage but you can’t drive to DisneyWorld from Chicago in an electric car.
Then there is what may be an urban legend. A “green” actor got an electric car to prove they were “green”. The car overloaded the house’s outlet and burned the house down.
You also have the problem of concentrating all pollution to the city’s power plants.

Are the Greenies really green?

Do the “greenies” give up their air conditioners on 100+ degree days? Consider what an air conditioner does? It extracts heat from a room. That heat doesn’t disappear. It is pumped outside. So on a 100 degree and the A/C is set to 70, do we really want to pump 30 degrees of heat outside? To the believers of GW, a one degree average increase in the world's temperature is going to be catastrophic.

Are even the members of the “Church of Global Warming” going to really be “green” enough?

Russ Knocke, a spokesman for the Homeland Security department, said the FBI has received 'plausible but uncorroborated information' that al-Qaeda terrorists may have planned to attack the subway system during the holiday season. Source

How hard will President Obama push CFLs? Will he remove YOUR freedom of choosing the light bulb of your choice?

Costs

There is concerns about the mercury in CFLs and the cost of proper disposal. And do CFLs actually last longer than regular light bulbs? Two of my CFL's only lasted about 6 months of normal use. Same as regular bulbs in the same lamps and the same usage.

Then there is a cost that is being covered up. What is the energy cost of building a CFL vs. a regular bulb? Lets assume that the base and the glass part costs the same to build. In a regular bulb, you are left with some insulation and wires. In a CFL, you have the transistors or magnets in the ballast. How much energy cost is used to build one transistor vs. some wires and insulation? Count how many transistors and other electronic gizmos are in the CFL bulb shown.

Somebody needs to calculate the cost of a regular bulb and a CFL from the raw materials from the ground to the final proper disposal in the ground of the used bulbs. I don't think CFLs are that green.

We commit these light bulbs to the ground; earth to earth; ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Global Warming “News”: Whales trapped by early ice

As many as 400 Arctic tusked whales face death as ice closes in.

As many as 400 tusked whales could be trapped in the ice north of Baffin Island - far more than originally estimated - making it one of the biggest strandings ever seen in the Arctic.

The narwhals were spotted last week by Inuit hunters snowmobiling on sea ice in the area. Estimates at the time suggested about 200 whales got trapped after ice moved in or formed quickly, preventing them from reaching open water.

This is the third time in three years that whales have been trapped in the Arctic ice.

In the last two years, beluga whales have been trapped in the sea ice near Tuktoyaktuk in the western Arctic.

I had heard that the winter ice has come a lot earlier this year. I thought the artic ice was disappearing.

"And as president of the United States, I will be a pro-life (pro-abortion) president. And this presidency will have pro-life (pro-abortion) policies."

One of the leading pro-abortion members of the House of Representatives says Congress will do the dirty work for incoming president Barack Obama when it comes to funding the UNFPA and forced abortions. "The UNFPA has been a cheerleader for, and participant in, China's coercive population control program. In order to restore funding to the UNFPA, Obama will have to turn a blind eye to the law," Johnson added. The Kemp-Kasten Anti-Coercion law prohibits U.S. "population assistance" funds from going to any organization that “supports or participates in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.”

In 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, the Bush Administration denied funding to UNFPA that had already been allocated by the U.S. Congress on the grounds that the UNFPA supported Chinese government programs which include forced abortions and sterilizations.

Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood

Sanger promoted the idea of "race hygiene" through "negative eugenics," an attempt to reduce the fertility of "dysgenic" groups. Sanger considered the unchecked multiplication of the "unfit" to be "the greatest present menace to civilization."[19] She suggested Congress set up a special department to study population problems and appoint a "Parliament of Population." One of the main objectives of the "Population Congress" would be "to raise the level and increase the general intelligence of population."

At a March,1925 international birth control gathering in New York City, a speaker warned of the menace posed by the "black" and "yellow" peril. The man was not a Nazi or Klansman; he was Dr. S. Adolphus Knopf, a member of Margaret Sanger's American Birth Control League (ABCL), which along with other groups eventually became known as Planned Parenthood.

Margaret Sanger's beliefs about social works of charity are revealing: She criticized the success-- not failure-- of charity... She called for the halt to the medical care being given to slum mothers, and decried the expense to the taxpayers of monies being spent on the deaf, blind and dependent. She condemned foreign missionaries for reducing the infant mortality rates in developing countries, and declared charity to be more evil than for the assistance it provided to the poor and needy. Sanger's thinking moved to fascism in an elitist attitude that presumes to judge who is worthy to live and to die.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America. 78% of their clinics are in minority communities. Blacks make up 12% of the population, but 35% of the abortions in America. Are they being targeted? Isn't that genocide?

During the presidential campaign, Mr. Obama flew around the nation on a chartered 757 known as "O-Force One." Since the campaign ended and Obama won the election a week ago, he needed something that looked a little more "dignified and presidential," according to aides. Monday, Obama and top staff members flew from O'Hare Airport to Washington on a standard American Airlines Super MD-80. He took a seat in the regular first class cabin, according to a pool report.

Obama and a handful of staffers flew from Chicago to DC and back in a Super MD-80. His wife flew from Chicago to DC and back in another charter jet. What kind of carbon footprint did that leave?

Bush and Obama Presidency: Two class acts

Bush:

Unlike Clinton, President Bush met President-Elect Obama with class. But President Bush has been a class act throughout his presidency. While I have had major problems with Bush’s domestic policies, I still support his foreign policies including Iraq and Afghanistan. He did rely on faulty intelligence and made other errors. He did what was right.

Obama:

While I think Obama’s policies have a good chance of severely damaging our country, I think Obama will be a classy president. With a teleprompter, he is an excellent dynamic speaker. A good image for the rest of the world but it won't stop the some of the world from hating America. (Without a teleprompter, Obama is a worse speaker than Bush.) Look for many normally non-political staff to be replaced. But unlike Clinton’s handling of the WH travel office, Obama will make the changes fairly.

With an Obama presidency, more poor and middle class will dream of one day they will own a Ferrari or a Rolls Royce and a 10,000 Sq.Ft. mansion. For those that have that dream, you must take it to the next step.

In your dream, you must believe your hard work has succeeded. You dream you drive up to your mansion in your new Rolls Royce. Before going inside, you sit back with eyes closed. You inhale the new car smell that your hard work made possible.

Then your pleasure is interrupted by a knock on the car window. You open your eyes to find Obama, Reid and Pelosi standing outside. Suddenly the door opens and you are thrown on the ground. Chuckling, Obama, Reid and Pelosi jump in your new Rolls Royce and drive off. They are going to sell your new hard earned Rolls Royce so they can redistribute your wealth and give it to those that have decided that hard work is not necessary especially when the liberals will just hand them money that was forcibly taken from hard working Americans.

You may not be “rich” now. But if you dream that one day you will be “rich”, today you must think about how the government should treat the “rich”. The “rich” can use their money to open a new business and employ the unemployed or the government confiscates “rich” people’s money so it can be redistributed and the unemployed remain unemployed but has a few bucks to spend.

To black Obama supporters: Congratulations

Hope you get what you deserve. Hope you get what you think a President Obama will get you but you are not going to get it.

Since Dr. King gave his “I have a dream” speech, liberal democrats have been promising to end poverty and the poverty level hasn’t changed much. It won’t change much in an Obama presidency. Well, maybe it will. I predict the unemployment rate will increase not decrease.

I have a challenge for you black Obama supporters. In 2010 and 2012, you need to honestly review whether Obama and the liberal democrats fulfilled their promises. If they have not fulfilled their promises, you need to reconsider continuing to vote for democrats.

Blacks in the country have been held back. They have been told by liberals couldn’t succeed. That excuse has been removed. But an Obama presidency won’t magically change things. You have to personal responsibility for your success.

To the media: don’t trust the exit polls

Over the years, I have had many Letters to the Editor printed in the USA Today. All have been edited. For a couple, the editing has changed the main point of my letter. I submitted the following letter today. Apparently, election eve exit polls are not an important topic for the USA Today.

The 2000 Florida Presidential fiasco can be laid at the feet of the media’s faulty predictions. We can not stand bad predictions this year. Calling a state must be based on actual vote counts not on only exit polls. The exit polls are going be extreme faulty this year.

Many will say they voted for Obama when they didn’t. Some will say they voted for McCain when they didn’t. We can’t have the media making a prediction then 30 minutes later have them issue Gilda Radner’s famous SNL line “nevermind”.

Obama will attend major Islamic (muslim) forum……..

Obama’s Chicago: Vote early and vote often

I voted today at the Access Chicago building a half an hour before closing. I like Chicago’s early voting and the electronic machines. They asked for a government photo id and it looked like the computer records got marked that I voted. And while I found the touch screen easy, they had a worker eager to help voters. He seemed to just want to make sure their votes got counted.

They had about 15-20 machines in anticipation of big early voting. They moved early voting to a larger room so they could double the number of machines. When I was there, half the machines were empty. And while 90% of the voters were white, that may not mean much in a one party town like Chicago. In 2000, Gore got 80% in Chicago.

If you want your location to have touch screen voting, your election commision should check out Chicago’s early voting machines. I don’t know their cost or breakdown rate. After voting, you have to review an electronic summary of your votes. Then you have to verify each page of the paper backup of the votes. Then your vote is registered.

A third party vote or no vote is a vote for Obama!!!!

Five US Supreme Court justices are 70 and older.
Seven US Supreme Court justices are 60 and older.
A president's supreme court choice will last a lot longer than his term of office.

Will your candidate appoint justices that follow the Constitution?
Or will your candidate appoint justices that will legislate from the bench or follow the world court even if it destroys our Bill of Rights?

Obama, Hawaii and universal healthcare (obamacare)

"Universal healthcare must not be a question of whether, it must be a question of how," B.O. said. "We have the ideas, the resources and now we need the will. There is no reason why we can't accomplish that."

Hawaii is dropping the only state universal child health care program in the country just seven months after it launched.
Gov. Linda Lingle's administration cited budget shortfalls and other available health care options for eliminating funding for the program. A state official said families were dropping private coverage so their children would be eligible for the subsidized plan.
"People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free," said Dr. Kenny Fink, the administrator for Med-QUEST at the Department of Human Services. "I don't believe that was the intent of the program."

Of course it wasn’t the intent but it was the expected results.
If the government is going to pay for healthcare, why wouldn’t companies and individuals stop paying for it?

Why I Can't Vote For Obama

First I must say whoever wins the election will have my prayer support. Obama needs to be commended for his accomplishments but I need to explain why I will not be voting for him.

Many of my friends process their identity through their blackness. I process my identity through Christ. Being a Christian (a Christ follower) means He leads I follow. I can't dictate the terms He does because He is the leader.

I can't vote black because I am black; I have to vote Christian because that's who I am. Christian first, black second. Neither should anyone from the other ethnic groups vote because of ethnicity. 200 years from now I won't be asked if I was black or white. I will be asked if I knew Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and Savior.

In an election there are many issues to consider but when a society gets abortion, same-sex marriage, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning to name a few, wrong economic concerns will soon not matter.

We need to follow Martin Luther King's words, don't judge someone by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I don't know Obama so all I can go off is his voting record. His voting record earned him the title of the most liberal senator in the US Senate in 2007.
