The 5th anniversary Iraq story liberals don't want you to read

Thankfully America's soldiers, sailors, airmen, Guardsmen and Marines have generally ignored the press and the politicians. Instead, they have been busy fighting a vicious adversary — and winning. Here are some inconvenient facts about why they believe they can — and must — finish the job in Iraq:

• Despite how they have been portrayed, today's all-volunteer U.S. military is the brightest, best educated, trained and equipped armed force ever fielded by any nation. More than 1.6 million American military personnel have served in Iraq. Notwithstanding the perception that our armed forces are stretched beyond the breaking point, reenlistments have never been higher and every service is exceeding its recruiting goals.

• Iraq's police, military and security forces, widely depicted as ineffective or worse, have grown by more than 100,000 in the past year and have assumed responsibility for 9 of 18 provinces.

• In the last 12 months the Interior Ministry has opened 13 new training facilities, the Iraqi military now has 134 active combat, infrastructure and Special Operations battalions with a total of nearly 647,000 Iraqis who have volunteered to serve in uniform.

• After we first reported on the “Al-Anbar Awakening” in December, 2006, the “Sons of Iraq” movement has crossed the Sunni-Shia sectarian divide and now has 91,000 members. In the same time-frame, attacks against Iraqi civilians and coalition forces have dropped by more than 70 percent.

• Since 2004, more than 4,000 civil reconstruction projects, including 325 for electrical distribution and 320 water treatment facilities have been completed. More than 3,000 schools and 75 hospitals, clinics and health care facilities have been renovated or built from the ground up while nearly 3,200 primary health care providers and physicians were being trained.

• There are now more than 100 privately owned radio stations, 31 television stations and 600 newspapers published in Iraq — a nation just slightly larger than California.

• In February, crude oil production exceeded 2.4 million barrels per day and this year the Iraqi economy is projected to grow by 7 percent.

Oama, Hillary, McCain and an Iraq video

McCain and Cheney went to Iraq to check on the progress in Iraq. Do Hillary or Obama have the guts to go to Iraq to check on the progress in Iraq? Would their anti-war anti-american base allow them to go?

The video is a photo montage of good news in Iraq. It also shows Cheney, McCain and Lieberman in Iraq. The Music is Semper Pratus an Hail to the Chief. The words to Hail to the Chief starts with Cheney and ends with McCain so I am sure the liberals would love watching the video.

The video ends with a video of airmen fishing in Iraq.

Obama/Hillary and UK Gun Control Failures: week of March 22, 2008

While England has some of the strictest national gun control laws, here is this week's list of UK violence that the laws didn't stop:
Two women have been arrested after a female cyclist was stabbed to death in the Anfield area of Liverpool. The unidentified victim was riding a bicycle on Whitfield Road on Friday night when a car pulled up alongside her and an argument broke out.

  • Teachers suffered 221 injuries from attacks in 2005-06, up 21 per cent on the previous year
  • 1,128 teachers were assaulted between 2000 and 2006
  • A survey found that most attacks were on nursery nurses, special school teachers and learning assistants
  • Another survey suggests that British schoolgirls are among the most violent in the world, with 29 per cent of English and Scottish girls aged 11 to 15 having been in at least one fight in the past year

A HAUL of shotguns, air weapons and other firearms that have been handed in to police were set to be destroyed in Edinburgh today. Around 800 weapons have been handed over to Lothian and Borders Police during an amnesty over the past six months.

Officers in a marked police car saw the 38-year-old man armed with a firearm walking towards a crowd of people in Harrow Road, Paddington, around 7:30pm on Wednesday. The man fled and was chased on foot by officers and arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery with a firearm. He is currently being held in custody at a central London police station.

Muslim leaders have condemned an attack on an Anglican clergyman calling the assault "cowardly and despicable".  Canon Michael Ainsworth, 57, was beaten by youths described as Asian in the grounds of St George-in-the-East, Shadwell, east London, on 5 March.

A 35-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious head injuries after an attack at a petrol station on Wednesday night.  Police said they were treating the incident, at Sainsbury's petrol station in Woodlands Road, Glasgow, as attempted murder. The man was said to be in a serious condition at the Southern General Hospital.

Three teenagers who left a 16-year-old boy minutes from death and broke a 15-year-old’s cheekbone in what a judge called an “insatiable desire to inflict injury” have been jailed indefinitely. The three youths were 15 when they spent an afternoon hunting victims in Boston, Lincolnshire. They set about the 16-year-old with such savagery that he was left for dead, having fits on the ground and with blood spilling from his mouth.

A US federal court overturned District of Columbia’s gun ban. The US Supreme Court will decide whether the DC gun ban law violated the 1st amendment. McCain and others in Congress signed a brief to the Supreme Court favoring overturning the DC gun ban. Hillary and Obama did not sign the brief so they are for taking your guns and overturning the 1st amendment.

Gun control laws are considered the solution but don’t address the problem – the violence and crime. While it is easier to kill with a gun, UK is considering a knife registry and ban on samurai swords. Why? Because the reason for crime and violence has not been addressed.

I am NOT advocating returning handguns to the british citizens but if the reason for gun control laws is to reduce violence and crime, the laws don’t work. How about treating the problems and not the symptom (guns)?

Global Warming “News”: Springtime in Illinois

This week in the Chicago area we were ready for the trees to get their leaves and the flowers to bloom. Except for some leftover big piles of snow, the snow was gone. But a couple hours changed that. The video shows what happened.

Obama, Alazeera and you

Obama is not a Muslim but Islamic extremists will be dancing in the streets if Obama is elected president. (Maybe not. See Al Bawaba article below.)

Before running for president, Obama made a big deal about his middle name Hussein. Now running for president and that name is a negative, Obama finds it's use to be racist. And McCain is making republicans follow that political correctness.

When will the Obama cultists ask what experience for president does Obama actually have?

In Sept., look for the number of people Islamic terrorists murder in Iraq to greatly increase just so you will be convinced to vote for Obama.

A couple comments on the Aljazeera website about the US election:
OneWorld, I think you should buy the world a coke. Obama Is either naive or lying when he says he will negociate with Iran, a terrorist regime. How do you deal with holocaust denial? If a rapist broke it to your house would you negotiate that he use a condom or shoot him? I bet you live in a gated community.
Taji, mosul, Iraq
Al-Qaeda 'will celebrate' Obama win. The whole... world will celebrate an Obama win.

Al Bawaba news web site
It’s Barack Obama’s choice to liken being Muslim to getting chlamydia from an underage congressional page, but this man of hope and courier of positive politics has taken the high road often enough, so why not this time? Let me guess, this race (like every race of the last 219 years) is “too important?” If cowering to racism and xenophobia is the remedy, well by all means ladies and gentlemen, let Barack Obama step up to the plate and deliver. But keep in mind, Obama hasn’t been accused of murder; his detractors, which include right-wing evangelicals and pro-Israel paranoids, are accusing him of belonging to a religion that encompasses twenty percent of the world and millions of Americans. The tone in which he and his campaign have responded is particularly disturbing. Obama is becoming the antithesis of his media description; he is protecting his image, instead of his message.

Obama’s raging defensiveness is an unfortunate reality, more so knowing that many Muslim-Americans are campaigning for him and faithfully supporting his candidacy today. Over the last few months, Obama skeptics have been lambasted by individuals championing “the lesser of two evils” rhetoric, but even a self-proclaimed pragmatist’s threshold should have been breached by this point. Obama is going to go as far as his supporters let him. First, he sold out Palestine without conscience because “everyone in politics does it.” Then he sold out Iraq—while Moveon.org crumbled and endorsed him—so he could grab the centrist vote. Then, in an effort to appeal to independents and John McCain supporters, he pledged to add more troops to Afghanistan and vowed to bomb Pakistan if “actionable intelligence” necessitated it. Next to go will be his shoddy healthcare plan, along with his flimsy stance on undocumented workers, and before we know it, he’ll be campaigning for his 2012 reelection.

I recognize that it’s easy to sell out Muslim-Americans. Who actually wants to appeal for their vote, never mind get on an airplane with them, right? But it’s time that Americans grow up and get over their post and pre-9/11 bigotry, and it’s high time that our political candidates take the lead.

As Obama’s hope is swallowed by the raging waters of mainstream politics, Muslim-Americans can dutifully forget about change and accede to the politics of xenophobia. Because what reasonable person would want to be a Muslim today, when that person can be a good Christian like Barack Hussein Obama.

Obama / Hillary on global warming

Watch a YouTube video "proving" the polar ice cap is melting.

John McCain's views on Global Warming:

He has offered common sense approaches to limit carbon emissions by harnessing market forces that will bring advanced technologies, such as nuclear energy, to the market faster, reduce our dependence on foreign supplies of energy, and see to it that America leads in a way that ensures all nations do their rightful share.

B. Hussein Obama's views on Global Warming:

The issue of climate change is one of the greatest challenges that our generation faces. Senator Obama believes that the U.S. must take aggressive action now to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. He is a cosponsor of the Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act (S. 309), which was introduced by Senators Sanders and Boxer. This important legislation would reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. by 80% in the year 2050. Senator Obama is also an original cosponsor of the Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act , which was introduced by Senators Lieberman and McCain and would mandate 60% reductions in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Hillary R.Clinton's views on Global Warming:

The scientific consensus on climate change is increasingly clear: unless we act to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, the planet will continue to warm over the next century, with widespread and potentially devastating effects. These potential effects include more frequent extreme weather events, and the wider spread of diseases such as West Nile, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, and malaria.

Remember global warming causes global cooling!

Snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966.

The U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reported that many American cities and towns suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January "was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average.".

China is surviving its most brutal winter in a century. Temperatures in the normally balmy south were so low for so long that some middle-sized cities went days and even weeks without electricity because once power lines had toppled it was too cold or too icy to repair them.

There have been so many snow and ice storms in Ontario and Quebec in the past two months that the real estate market has felt the pinch as home buyers have stayed home rather than venturing out looking for new houses.

In just the first two weeks of February, Toronto received 70 cm of snow, smashing the record of 66.6 cm for the entire month set back in the pre-SUV, pre-Kyoto, pre-carbon footprint days of 1950.

And remember the Arctic Sea ice? The ice we were told so hysterically last fall had melted to its "lowest levels on record? Never mind that those records only date back as far as 1972 and that there is anthropological and geological evidence of much greater melts in the past.

The ice is back..

Gilles Langis, a senior forecaster with the Canadian Ice Service in Ottawa, says the Arctic winter has been so severe the ice has not only recovered, it is actually 10 to 20 cm thicker in many places than at this time last year.

How many members of the Church of Global Warming does it take to change a light bulb?

The study recommended that if a compact fluorescent breaks, get children and pets out of the room. Ventilate the room. Never use a vacuum, even on a rug, to clean up a broken compact fluorescent lamps. Instead, use stiff paper such as index cards and tape to pick up pieces, and then wipe the area with a wet wipe or damp paper towel. If there are young children or pregnant woman in the house, consider cutting out the piece of carpet where the lamp broke as a precaution. Place the shards and cleanup debris in a glass jar with a screw top and remove the jar from the house.

Problem with Ethanol

Ethanol fires are harder to put out than gasoline fires, and require a special type of firefighting foam. Many fire departments around the country don't have the foam, don't have enough of it, or are not well-trained in how to apply it, firefighting experts say. It is also more expensive than conventional foam. Plain water makes ethanol fires worse.

The rising cost of wheat, due to a global shortage, has also driven up bread prices 12 percent compared to this time last year, according to the Department of Labor Statistics.
Land for wheat (our food) is being diverted to producing ethanol.

Is there any of McCain’s stances on the issues you agree with?

Unless you are in total disagreement with both party’s candidates, you MUST vote for the one you agree with the most!
